Anime, Watch This Anime!

Summer Anime 2019: One Hell of a Collection

Summer is upon us, ladies and gents. And what a hot one it is! Climate change is being a real bitch (as well as a genuine threat that will likely tear our planet apart within the century, but that’s a mood kill so I’m not gonna talk about that), so we’re all gonna be sweaty as hell for a while when we go outside. What better time to stay inside and watch anime?

And what a selection we’ve got! Some old favorites are returning! Some new flavors of trash, particularly of the Isekai variety, are on the horizon! It looks like it’s gonna be a fun summer!

Which is refreshing, considering how the last one went. Let’s talk about the ones that have caught my eye!

*Side note: continuing shows from last season are not allowed. Sorry to ‘Fruits Basket‘ and ‘Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba‘.

Dr. Stone: With Science, I Shall Save the World!

Of all the shows this season, at least from the new ones, this one seems the most interesting.

I’m not super into the character designs. But generally, the show is very nice to look at. The story is very fascinating and unique. As well as very easily botched. I could see this series falling flat on its face very easily.

Do I want it to fail? No. I’ve enjoyed the first two episodes, and I want to continue enjoying them. But I am skeptical about the future.

Is It Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Season 2: My First Light-Novel

Another of my guilty pleasures is back!

I remember watching this show with my older brother back in the day. Yes, it is an odd series to watch with your brother, but whatever. It has a special place in my heart. It was, and still is, one of my favorite trashy shows to watch.

I’m super excited to see where the second season goes. Hopefully it can revitalize the series for future seasons to come, because I want to see this ride through to the end! It may not be the most refined story with the most interesting characters. But of all the fun shows this season, this one is the most entertaining of all!

Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks?: That Title is Funnier Than Any Joke I Could Possibly Write

To be honest, I’m only putting it on here because of that title. I’m still laughing as I put this down! Plus, it does seem like an interesting, fun and stupid take on the Isekai formula. It seems like the perfect guilty pleasure kind of show.

Fire Force: Making Firefighters Even Cooler

Why the hell does this exist? I mean, I’m not complaining. But I have to wonder why! It gives me something to do!

Someone sat down and said “I’m going to make a Shounen series about FIREFIGHTERS!” and here we are. But oddly enough, I’m kind of into it! The art and animation are pretty nice and the action seems fun. It doesn’t seem like the most well-written series of all time, but it’s fun!

Who knows? Maybe it’ll be another ‘My Hero Academia‘. But I have my reservations.

Oh my god, now I can have three seasons of a great show that no one has ever seen to talk about!

Chihayafuru is a fantastic series. Easily my favorite sports anime. But after the second season came and went, I had practically lost all hope that we’d ever get more. I thought it was doomed to be forgotten and unwatched.

Luckily, if you’ve been reading this blog for a long time, then you’ll know one major, important thing about me. That being: it is very rare for me to be right.

If you’re going to watch any show this season, I implore that you pick Chihayafuru. If you haven’t seen the first two, then catch up as quickly as possible. I guarantee, you won’t regret it.

This is certainly a strong season for anime! Two of my favorites are returning, and some of the new shows have strong potential to become favorites!

Even if it further proves that Isekai will never die. But at this point, I think we’ve all accepted that.
