Writer’s Diary: April 2026 Update

Does anyone still do April Fools anymore? Or are we finally letting that one die? I can’t complain; where I come from, April 1st was an annual blood bath.

Howdy, folks. I hope you’re all doing well. March was a rough month for me emotionally. But I’m not here to unload my issues onto you; that would be a poor way to thank you for being here. Instead, I’ll try to manifest some positivity for the month ahead the only way I know how: ranting about things I have strong feelings about.

Let’s start this month’s update with the blog. I’ve got a few rants in the oven right now. The new seasons of both ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ and ‘Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End’ have just wrapped up; the Frieren article will be up on April 9th, and JJK will follow on the 16th. My spoiler-rant of ‘One Piece‘ season two will be finished and uploaded on the 13th. Finally, I plan to end the month on a bang with a three-in-one retrospective on the original ‘Resident Evil‘ trilogy. I’m super excited to share all of these with you.

Now, a quick update on ‘The Red Dragon’s Tears’. Progress has been much slower than I had hoped. But some is still better than none. Here are the current numbers:

  • Chapters edited: 3/14
  • Total words: 39068
  • Page count: 90

I’ll try to put the petal to the metal this month. My first objective is to add some crucial pieces missing in the original draft, including a whole new chapter; my current goal is get that done by the end of April. After that, it’s just a matter of polishing the mess. The big objective is to have it all done and ready for beta reading by the end of May.

That’s about all I have for you today. As always, thank you very much for reading. It may seem like a small thing, but it really means the world to me. Until next time, stay safe, and have a great day!
