Ah, October. The month of monsters, fright, and pumpkin spice. Not to mention category 5 hurricanes, apparently.
Little peek behind the curtain: I live in Florida. So the last week or so of my life has been an exercise in moving outdoor furniture indoors, boarding up windows, and hunkering down in confined safe spaces. Thankfully, I live in a relatively safe neighborhood, so the worst my family had to deal with was a messy yard and a few days without power.
But as you’ve likely gathered, my astute reader, the storm has passed and my computer once again functions. Which means its time I get back to work.
In terms of blog plans, I have a few articles in the works. I’ll be briefly going over some shows I’ve been watching and games I’ve been playing. Not in full reviews, but more in brief summaries of my general thoughts. Though once I’m done with this update, I plan on starting work for my ‘Silent Hill 2 Remake‘ review, which will go up on the 31st. What better way to celebrate Halloween?
Progress on ‘Father of Monsters‘ has been slow but steady. Part 3 is complete, albeit unpolished. Now I’m wading into the deep re-writes of parts 4 and 5, which will be the longest and most difficult work in the revision process.
Here are the current stats:
- Chapters complete: 32 (work on 33 and 34 have begun)
- Total words: 145,550
- Pages edited: 170 out of 289
Ironically, four chapters of part 4 have been finished so far. I’m not sure how long it’s going to end up being. Right now, I’m aiming for anywhere between ten or twelve chapters. Part 5 after that will be much shorter; I’m aiming for roughly five or six chapters, with those being longer than most others in the book prior to that point. My goal is for an even 50 chapters, but if the story would be best served with another one or two more, then so be it.
Of course, since I’m basically re-writing the book entirely from this point on, all this work will need another layer of polish before I feel comfortable sending it to be read. Luckily, I don’t intend any more major narrative changes at that point. It’ll be a quick edit, done in a month at the longest.
But we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. One hurdle at a time.
Thank you very much for reading, and have a lovely rest of your day. Until next time.
