Poirot Adventures: Double Sin

Time once again to put our little gray cells to work.

While on the road, Poirot and Hastings make the acquaintance of a young girl on business for her aunt. When the goods she was planning to sell come up stolen, she naturally comes to Poirot for assistance. The sole suspect: a man with a poor mustache. But can it really be that easy?

Simplicity is the beauty of this particular short. It doesn’t overly complicate things with red herrings or hypnosis, anything like that. “Here’s the case and here are the clues,” Christie says. “See if you can solve it before Poirot.” With a little clever thinking, you can! You’re given all the necessary information to solve the caper yourself! It’s a solid, fair mystery.

Just one problem with that: it doesn’t leave me much to talk about. It’s a short enjoyable read that presents you a fun and fair puzzle. Beyond that, there’s not a lot going on.

Uh… Let’s see… Poirot and Hastings have some fun banter. A good thing, since most of the short is spent with their back and forth.

Oh, and of course, the ending. The actual resolution to the mystery is really satisfying! It’s surprising, yet it makes complete sense given the information we were given. Again: you could actually solve this one yourself!

‘Double Sin’ is really good. Definitely one of the better Poirot shorts. If you need to fill half an hour, I’d highly recommend giving it a read. This is a fun one for sure.
