Writer’s Diary: September 2023 Update

Remember when I said August was gonna be my month? Yeah, it wasn’t. But that’s life, isn’t it?

I’ll spare you my sob story. Let’s just talk about the blog.

My next movie marathon is going to be a somewhat shorter one. Featuring something that has been sorely lacking on this blog since the very beginning: Brendan Fraser. That’s right, I’m watching all the Mummy movies!

Including the one with Tom Hanks. Pray for me, folks.

Best of the Bestiary is now entering its final stage. We’re into the Y section now, with Z not too far off. The Monster Manual is near empty now.

For books, I don’t have much going on. Currently, I’m making my way through ‘Before They Are Hanged’, the second book in the First Law trilogy by Joe Abercrombie. Until I finish, expect more Poirot and maybe some Lovecraft.

I’m honestly amazed with how the new ‘Main Character in Another World’ series has gone. Not only do you guys seem to like them, but they’re also a ton of fun to write! Next, I’m gonna talk about Mushoku Tensei’s Rudeus Greyrat. After that, I might go dumpster diving again.

Don’t worry, normal character analyses won’t go away. I’ll get back to it just as soon as I find one worth ranting about.

Friday is gonna be a tricky one to fill. Mostly because Baldur’s Gate 3 has completely consumed my life. If I can tear myself away from it long enough, I’ll go back to finishing Persona 3 for that review. That, and Crisis Core.

So many RPGs, so little time…

Saturday is going to see a break from Berserk to talk about other anime. First up, I have to talk about Mushoku Tensei; I’ve slept on that series for far too long. And with the Autumn season starting soon, we’ll have a whole new set of shows to discuss. After I catch up with Jujutsu Kaisen, at least.

As for the book… I’ll be honest: progress was extremely minimal. I’m so close to finishing. I’m right at the climax. From this point on, I know exactly what’s going to happen and how it’s all gonna wrap up. I just need to actually write it.

Yet that’s proven easier to say than to do. This project has been exhausting to write. I still like it and I still want to finish it! But I think I need to take a break from it. Just a short one, to work on a side project. Once I’m feeling refreshed, I’ll leap back in to finish the novel.

Am I happy about that? No. Do I think it’s the right thing to do for myself and for the book? Yes.

Thank you all so much for reading, and have a fantastic day!
