I’m not gonna lie guys: July was not my month. I had medical problems, things got real rough at my job, my dog went missing for a few days, and to top it all off: I came down with a bad case of emotions. Amongst all of that, sitting down to write was something of a challenge.
But it was either that or stare into the deep abyss that is my soul. Alone. With nothing else to do.
Our X-Men marathon is officially over. All that remains now is to rank all the movies. Once that’s done, I’ll finally get around to watching John Wick: Chapter 4. Then… I’m not entirely sure. I might start another marathon, but I’m not sure which series to tackle next. Currently, it’s a toss up between the James Bond movies or the Rocky movies. I’m open to suggestions!
Best of the Bestiary soldiers on as we enter the W section. This month, we’ll be seeing the Water Weird, the Wight, the will-o’-wisp, and the wraith. Kind of an undead/spirit theme going on. Hopefully they’ll be solid entries!
As for book reviews, I’ve got quite a library to get through. Currently, I’m juggling Brandon Sanderson’s third secret project release, ‘Yumi and the Nightmare Painter’, and ‘Crime and Punishment’ by Fyodor Dostoevsky. Both are remarkable works of literature – for ENTIRELY different reasons – but getting through them may take some time. Expect more of Papa Poirot in the meantime.
Character analyses continue to be the bane of my existence. They’re the most fun to write! But actually picking a character is a daunting task. That said, I’ve got something of a new idea I want to play around with. We’ll see how that turns out.
For the video game slot, I have a simple objective: complete Metal Gear. Not that it’ll be hard, the only ones left are MGS 2 and 4. Then we rank ’em, and we’ll finally finish our ‘marathon’ of Kojima’s masterpiece. After that, there’s another game that I’ve been meaning to finish. One I’ve had on the shelf for a loooooooooooooong time.
Finally, anime and manga. Honestly, beyond my review of Oshi no Ko, I don’t have many plans. Which means it’s time to get back to Berserk! Back to the struggle, my fellow Strugglers!
God knows I’ve been doing plenty of that recently…
Now, onto the book. Like I said at the start, I haven’t been writing as much as I’d like recently. But that’s not to say I haven’t been working on it at all! Let’s see some numbers!
- Pages: 342
- Words: 177310
- Chapters: 53 + prologue
- Parts: 4/5
I’ve been somewhat stuck on the climax for a little bit now. This project has kind of ballooned to something much larger than I had originally intended, so now I need to find a way to tie all the threads together in a satisfying way. I’m not too worried about it; it’s a rough draft, after all. Still, I’d like to make the editing process as easy as possible.
Also, this month marks the one year anniversary of this project! I had hoped to have it finished by now, but hey. Life happens. I’m just proud I’ve gotten this far already.
Just a few chapters left… We’re almost there!
July was wild, and not in the fun way. But I’m gonna turn things around in August! I’m taking the bull by the horns!
Why do I hear God laughing?
