Another month, another update. Sure, we missed March, but who is counting?
April is going to be a busy month for me. Not too long from now, I’ll be starting at a new job. They pay is good, which means I ought to be able to start making larger strides in book publishing later down the line. However, it is going to be more demanding upon my schedule.
How this will affect the blog, only time will tell. For now, I aim to keep up with the usual release schedule. Speaking of which: here’s what I’ve got planned to fill said schedule.
For movies, the plan is simple. Next week, I’ll be covering John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make it to a theater anytime soon, so I probably won’t be covering Chapter 4 for a good long while. Until then, I’ll be watching a variety of other films. Expect some surprises.
And also the original D&D movie. Now let’s call that a transition and move on.
Best of the Bestiary carries on as it always has. This month, we’ll be seeing more monsters from the S section. Including the Slaadi! A large collection of giant frogs with nearly a full page of lore as well as five distinct versions with their own designs and stats.
The book segment will be filled as it usually is. More Poirot, maybe more Lovecraft. However, I do have a duo planned, starting with a ‘By the Cover’ (feels like it’s been ages since I’ve done one of those) and a book review of ‘Red Seas Under Red Skies,’ the second book in the Gentleman Bastards series by Scott Lynch. It’s been an interesting read and I can’t wait to share my thoughts with all of you.
Our celebration of Doctor Who continues in the character analysis slot. This month, we’ll be seeing the 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th Doctors.
Oh, hey! The 6th Doctor article goes up on the 6th! Funny how fate works, eh?
As for the video game segment, don’t expect any full reviews this month. I’ve got plans for two Best Boss Battles articles, one focused on Resident Evil 4: Remake, the other on Metal Gear Solid. Aside from that, I want to rant about one of my favorite questlines in Final Fantasy XIV: the Dark Knight questline. These will all be more ramble than anything else – there is a reason why my blog is titled Daily Rants – and I hope you all enjoy reading them as much as I’ll enjoy writing them.
Finally, we have the anime slot. With the last season dying down, it’s about time to catch up with some of the shows that are wrapping up. These include the televised version of the Kaguya-sama movie, the season overview of My Hero Academia, and Buddy Daddies. You can also expect another Berserk review, likely sooner rather than later.
That’s the general plan for the blog. If nothing else, I hope these articles all turn out to be fun reads. I get the feeling they’ll be fun to write.
Speaking of fun to write: let’s talk about the big bad book.
The main reason as to the absence of an update last month was the novel. Simply put: very little had got done on that between February and March. As such, I decided to hold off on sharing anything more until actual progress had been made.
Progress has, in fact, been made. Here are the current numbers:
- Word count: 141,137
- Pages: 274
- Chapters: 44 + prologue
- Parts complete: 3/5
Part 4 is nearing completion. I aim to have it done by chapter 45, maybe 46. Then I’ll be moving on to part 5, the final stretch, which should hopefully be much shorter than part 4. Once part 5 is finished, all that will remain is the epilogue.
Followed by extensive editing. Like, lots of it. No overhauls or rewrites, just lots of fat trimming and clean up work. Once that’s done, it’s off to the beta readers. With some of their feedback, I can finish the final draft, send it off to an editor for professional cleanup, and presto! We’ll be ready to publish.
Man, reading it like that makes it sound a helluva lot simpler than it’ll actually be.
That should just about do it for this month’s update. If nothing else, this month is going to be a busy one. New job, lots of projects, and a book near to completion. This is gonna be a month that’ll really have me sweating. I can only hope you guys enjoy the fruits of my labor.
Thank you all very much for reading, and have a fantastic day 🙂
Until next time.
