I’ll be real with you guys: things haven’t exactly been going my way lately. Real life has been kicking me around like a Soccer ball (or football, if you’re someone who actually cares) so I haven’t been in the best place. Productivity is down much further than I had hoped.
But it isn’t at zero just yet. If it were, I think I’d have lost my mind. That is if I haven’t already.
Let’s start off with the blog itself. I’m going to try something different this time around and give a little sneak preview of what I’ve got planned for content this month. It isn’t a complete plan yet; there are still plenty of gaps I need to fill. But I figured I’d give you a little insight on what kind of articles you can expect.
For movie reviews, I’m going to do a little marathon. With the Mario movie coming out in March, I figured I’d best get prepared early. So I’m going to review every single animated Illumination movie. Yup. Every single one.
That will be significantly more fun for you than it will be for me.
Best of the Bestiary will continue on as it has. In the coming weeks, we’ll be talking about the Piercer, the Pixie, and the Pseudodragon. All three of them look fairly interesting, so we should be in for a good time.
Book reviews are somewhat in the air right now. I’m currently making my way through ‘Jade City’ by Fonda Lee, so you can expect that at some point in the future. Until I finish it, however, expect more Hercule Poirot short story reviews.
My character analysis series is somewhat up in the air right now. I’ve got two solid ideas right now, in which I’m going to revisit the most recent era of Doctor Who and later go back to My Dress-Up Darling for a design analysis. But beyond that, things are still up in the air. I feel as though that series has been on a decline recently and I want the next few to be more in-depth and interesting than what I’ve put out lately.
As for video games, things are still up in the air. I’m currently making my way through Final Fantasy VI, which has been an absolute delight. That, and I want to talk about the current state of triple-A games; the release of Pokemon Scarlet/Violet has given me more than a few things to say. As for the rest, you can expect another Best Boss Battles article soon, though I’m still not sure what that one will be on.
For the anime corner, I want there to be a bit more variety this month beyond Berserk manga reviews. I’ve got some rough ideas for an article on Naruto: Shippuden, but beyond that, I’m not sure. I might watch a certain cinematic classic, but I’m not sure if I’ll get around to it.
Of course, My Hero Academia reviews are going to continue. That tradition has gone on too long to stop now.
That’s about it for the blog. I want the next few articles to be stronger than what I’ve been putting out recently. I can’t help but feel like I haven’t been doing the best I could and I’m sorry about that. You guys deserve to read the best I can offer and I’ll strive to give you just that.
To wrap things up, here’s a quick update on my novel project. The pace on that one has slowed considerably since it started, but it’s still chugging along. Currently, the stats on that are:
- 86739 words
- 168 pages
- 27 chapters + the prologue complete; chapter 28 is roughly 40% complete
- Parts complete: 2/5; part 3 is roughly 60% complete
Slow as things have gotten, things are still coming along smoothly. It’ll definitely require some big edits once all is said and done, but I’m still fairly confident that it’s going to turn out well. I’m still having a ton of fun writing it.
When will it be done? I’ve got no idea. But we’re roughly around the halfway point now, so hopefully some time next year.
Then I can start with the actually hard part: publishing.
