Unfortunately, this version of a homonculus is significantly less interesting or terrifying than what we saw in that series.
Lore: Making a Pet
There really isn’t much to say here. A homonculus is a little animated creature made with clay, ash, mandrake root, and blood. They share a telepathic bond with their master and make for a good scout, spy, or messenger. It doesn’t exactly have some deep history to it.
Not unless you want to come up with some backstory for the main bad guy’s homonculus. But frankly, I feel like that time would be better spent on developing your main bad guy.
Design: What Animal Is This?
I swear to god, this looks like an actual animal with some fantasy flare on it. I just can’t think of the name. Am I imagining things?

I kinda love it, though! It looks like the little gremlin that would whisper in its master’s ear. I could picture it flying around and cackling and just being annoying. I dunno, that puts a smile on my face!
Plus, I love the idea that a wizard decided to create a pet and they came up with this.
Stats: Challenge of 0
That should tell you all you need to know.
This is an incredibly weak monster. With its AC and HP, you could kill it by swatting it out of the air. But hey! It’s immune to charm and poison! Not that you’ll need either one.
Its offensive capabilities aren’t all that high, either. In fact, it’s rather pitiful. All it can do is 1 measly point of damage. Although, should the target fail a DC 10 CON save, they’ll be poisoned. Fail that save five times and they’ll be poisoned for even longer for 5(1d10) minutes and be rendered unconscious.
Good luck getting to that point.
But hey. At least it has Telepathic Bond. That way, the master will know exactly when you squish their pet against the wall. Congratulations, you cold-hearted bastards. You basically just murdered a wizard’s dog. I hope you’re proud of yourselves.
Placement
This is an incredibly forgettable entry. Its lore is all but nonexistant and its stats make it clear that it isn’t meant for fighting. The best thing I have to say is that the design isn’t generic and it’s kinda funny looking.
With all that in mind, let’s put the Homonculus on the Best of the Bestiary!
