There really isn’t a whole lot of plot in this episode, is there? After burning through the montage of the other students (and getting through a mostly pointless scene between Recovery Girl and All Might), we get a proper introduction to a few of the other 1-A kids. Then we get the only really important plot development: Deku telling Bakugo the truth about his powers.
Aside from that, there really isn’t a whole lot to talk about this week. Everything production wise is on par with the rest of the series. Solid animation, good expression art, fun looking action (even if we never actually see any of the action to it) so on and so forth. It’s a really standard episode, all things considered.
Not to say it’s a waste of time. It’s chock full of cute character interactions that silently add tons of depth to each member of the class. Watching Tokoyami, Ojiro and Jiro’s laid back attitudes clash with Iida’s strict rules and respect is charming, and watching Kaminari fruitlessly try to flirt with Uraraka is pretty funny as well. One thing I adore about this series is how it throws in tons of little details like this to make the class feel truly alive and well fleshed out.
Yes, even Mineta.
And that’s about all there is to say. It still looks nice, and it has a ton of fun little moments. It’s not super essential to a reviewing experience, but it’s a good time in it’s own right to just try and find all the cute little character interactions that you may have missed the first time.
