ARCHIVE My Review Academia S3 E8: CLOTHES!!

Original Release: May 26th, 2018

Shit is about to go down, dude!

This episode was still pretty light in the amount of content, but it’s safe to say that the table setting for the rest of the arc is done. And oh boy, it’s looking like an intense arc!

Three major things happened this episode:
1. Iida gives up on stopping Deku and friends from going to save Kacchan, so he decides to go with them, with Yaorozu doing the same
2. The Pro heroes gather to stage a rescue mission
3. Kacchan is released form his bonds and attacks Shigurake, to which he starts to freak out as he stares at the hand he wears on his face

Now, me bullet pointing what happened here really doesn’t do them all justice. We also got plenty of other little moments that had nothing to do with those. For example, there was a really sweet moment when Deku was talking to his mom on the phone, and an excellent moment of Ochako expressing how Bakugo would feel to be rescued.

But none of those compare to seeing two things: Deku and friends disguising themselves and UA’s reputation being destroyed.

Seriously, the disguised Deku, Kirishima, Iida, Yaorozu and Todoroki designs aren’t just amazing, but the way they act within them is equally hilarious. Deku starts acting like a total street punk, yelling ‘YEAH?!’ at anyone, while Iida starts shouting like a pervert and Kirishima coaches them both from the sidelines. All the while Yaorozu makes excuses for wanting to go into a shady street store to Todoroki. I haven’t laughed this hard in a while, and it’s fucking great.

We also see the fallout for the heroes failure after this scene. UA holds a press conference where they apologize for having failed to keep the students safe, but none of the civilians are having it. Seeing the reputation of the heroes go through the gutter is awesome. It’s nice to know that the story actually has consequences for the character’s failures.

You’d be surprised how many stories forget that failure and consequences need to happen.

Overall, this episode was spectacular, and I cannot wait for the next one. Especially since it’s literally called ‘All-For-One’, which means that we get to see the main villain at long last! Hell yeah!

Also Bakugo is gonna fucking die. Looking forward to that.
