Writer’s Diary: October 2025 Update

Happy scary month, everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. This whole year has been a roller-coaster of existential horrors, particularly here in the USA. All the more reason to enjoy the fun kind of horrors. The world may be burning, but at least I have a funny skeleton sitting on my porch.

Alas, I have no such funny skeleton. But I do have an update for you all! Whether it’s as good as holiday decor, I’ll let you decide.

Let’s start with the blog. I have a few articles planned for this month. Firstly, I finally watched ‘Oppenheimer‘, and I need to talk about it. That will be up on the 13th. After that, you can expect posts on the second seasons of ‘Dandadan‘ and ‘My Dress-Up Darling‘; those will be out on the 17th and 24th. Whichever one is finished first will come out first. Finally, I’ll be reviewing ‘Hades II‘ now that it’s been fully released. That will be out on the 16th.

I have a few other ideas on the back-burner. I’ve recently been playing ‘XCOM: Enemy Unknown‘, so I’ll probably review that if I finish it. And I might do something for Halloween; maybe I’ll finally get around to watching ‘Sinners‘ or playing ‘Silent Hill F‘.

Now, onto the book. Here’s the latest progress report on ‘Father of Monsters‘.

Unfortunately, there’s been a delay in the editing process, so that won’t be done until next week. That on its own isn’t a problem; I’d rather a job be done well than quickly. But life loves to kick a man while he’s down. See, I recently got over a bad bout of the flu. As a result, I’ve missed several shifts at work, which has put a sizable dent in my budget.

This puts me in a difficult position. I could curl into a ball and cry over my shitty luck. Or I could roll with the punches and adjust the game plan.

Jokes on you, fate! I can do both!

Father of Monsters‘ is going to have a somewhat divided release. To start, the book will release digitally ASAP. You’ll be able to read it on Kindle and other eReader apps first and foremost. The profits of this initial release will go into funding the print versions (paperback and hardcover) as well as the audio book.

Of course, this strategy only works if there are enough sales to make a difference. Which is why I’ll be consulting a marketing specialist to help promote the release. Anything to help keep my head above the tidal wave of AI slop plaguing every corner of the internet.

Which brings us to a date. My hope is to manage all this before October is out. However, depending on budgeting and scheduling, it may have to be November. There will be an official release date announcement two weeks in advance. With any luck, it might just be the next Writer’s Diary.

But luck and I never got along. So we’ll just have to wait and see.

Thank you all very much for reading. Until next time, keep safe and stay healthy. See you later!
