I had hoped to publish this update a few weeks earlier. Unfortunately, life is never as smooth a ride as one wants it to be. Work and personal matters have once again conspired to slow my schedule. Yet they have again failed to stop me in my tracks entirely.
Which is why it is with the greatest pleasure to tell you all that writing on ‘Father of Monsters‘ is finally complete. The draft is finished and ready for beta. Here are the final numbers:
- Pages: 374
- Words: 187,279
- Chapters: 53 + Prologue/Epilogue
It was a long and exhausting road, but we got there in the end. There is still room for improvement, as there always will be. But I can at least say with confidence that I’ve made the book as good as I can on my own. Now I need more objective eyes to help me see the cracks that most need filling.
By the time this update goes live, the book will be in the hands of beta readers for review. Once I get their feedback, it’s right back to the grindstone to get their feedback implemented. Then, once the book is as good as I can make it – or I just get sick of looking at it – I’ll send it off to be properly edited, formatted, and finally: published.
How do I describe what I’m feeling right now…? Pride. Exhilaration. Suffocating terror. It’s one thing to talk about leaping off a cliff, but once you’re actually standing on the ledge, it’s another matter entirely. I’ve been wanting to take this step for so long, but now that I’m here, my head can’t stop spinning.
Still, there’s no turning back. If I don’t take the plunge now, I don’t think I ever will. Only thing to do now is forge ahead. Who knows? Maybe this will be fun.
While the beta readers are doing their work, I’ll be taking a break from writing novels and get back into writing blog posts. First up: I need to talk about ‘Dragon Ball: Daima‘. Once that’s done, I plan on dusting off the ol’ leather backs and resuming my ‘Berserk‘ review series. Other articles may appear if I find the time/inspiration for them, so I’ll leave that as a surprise for the both of us in the future.
If these articles aren’t up by the end of March, you can expect them in April. I likely won’t post another update until May unless something huge happens, so that’s about all you can expect from me for a while. Gotta get as much rest as I can before the real work starts.
That’s all I have for today. As always, thank you all so much for reading and for your patience. Your continued support has meant the world to me. I’ll see y’all next time.
Until then, stay safe and take care of yourselves!
