Welcome back, everyone.
It’s been pretty silent on this blog this last month. Not because of any sort of scheduling issue or willingness or anything like that. I’ve just been so busy working on other things that I haven’t made time for it.
Rest assured, I haven’t forgotten you guys. There will still be rants in the month to come. Expect those when you see them.
While I haven’t been very active on the blogging front, I have made significant progress on ‘Father of Monsters‘! I’ve gotten more pages done this last month than the last three combined! Here are the current numbers:
- Pages edited: 117 out of 360
- Chapters edited: 21, starting on 22
- Parts complete: 2/5
- Current word count: 185,812
Part 2 has been completed! It was the longest stretch of the book, sitting at a whopping fifteen chapters, so it feels damn good having overcome that mountain! Overall, I’m really happy with how it turned out!
Now I’m on to part 3. This will be much shorter than part 2, with eight chapters. However, this is where the heavy re-writes are going to begin. Most of this part needs to be completely reworked. Then come parts 4 and 5, I’ll pretty much be re-writing the whole thing from scratch (save for the ending.) Still, I’m happy with the direction its going!
Speaking of how it looks: I have something I’m VERY excited to share with you all! Last month, I shared with you all my rough sketches for what the cover would look like. Now, I’m happy to reveal the finished product!
Behold!

This beautiful piece was put together by the incredible Damian Modena. His style is absolutely jaw-dropping; the moment I found him on Fiverr, I knew he was right for the job. And I was not disappointed! Damian is a great guy, and he went above and beyond! I’ll leave a link to his Fiverr page right here in case you want to see his other works or commission a piece.
Of course, it isn’t 100% complete yet. It still needs the back cover text and the spine hasn’t been adjusted to size. Once the book is fully written, edited, and formatted, I’ll get back in touch with Damian for those last finishing touches.
So far, so good! I was so exhausted with ‘Father of Monsters‘ a few months ago, but now, I’m feeling re-invigorated! If all goes smoothly, I ought to be done with part 3 before the next update! Or at least get close to that!
Take that with a grain of salt, though. My job has a tendency to throw my schedule for a loop with extra shifts or unnecessary meetings. But I’ll do my best.
