Writer’s Diary: December 2023 Update

Just once, I’d like to say, “This month will be better!” and for it to actually be true. One time. Is that so much to ask? Please, I’m so tired…

Well, no use whining about my lickings. Gotta keep moving forward. Here’s what I’ve got cooking going into the holidays!

Mondays will be spent with two things: Doctor Who and Godzilla. I still need to deliver my promised article on the 50th anniversary, and I’ll definitely be talking about the Christmas special when that debuts. Between those, I’ll be catching up with Godzilla, from Minus One to Monarch to talking about the new Godzilla X Kong trailer. This entire holiday season will just be me ranting about my favorite childhood franchises, this is gonna be great!

Tuesdays are gonna remain empty in the time being. But to make up for that, I’ll be putting in double the effort on everything else. Sorry if you miss Best of the Bestiary, but that one is gonna remain on hiatus for a while longer.

Wednesdays will mostly be split between Lovecraft and Poirot. Expect my thoughts on ‘Call of Cthulhu’ next week. Hopefully I’ll be done with ‘Metro 2034’ soon, so I can talk about that one.

Thursdays will be fun. A day after this article goes up, I’ll be posting my analysis of Sukuna from ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’. After that, expect another ‘Main Character in Another World’ and an ‘Icons of Shounen’.

Fridays are going to be celebrations and anticipations. I’ll be looking back on the best games I played this year, as well as the ones I’m most looking forward to. But before all that, I’ll be delivering my promised article on the Baldur’s Gate 1 expansion: Siege of Dragonspear. Because boy howdy do I have some things to say about that!

Saturdays will pretty much be my ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ day for a while. There will be two more articles, focusing on the Gojo’s Schooldays arc and the Shibuya Incident. For the last one of the month, I’ll be keeping it simple with another Berserk review.

Finally, let’s talk about the novel. I’m still enjoying work on my side projects. But I’m starting to feel the need to get back to it. Come January and the new year, I’ll finally get back to the main novel and finish the rough draft. From there, I’ll hop straight into editing. I’ve had plenty of ideas on how to refine the mess of words I’ve got into a story worth reading.

Hopefully I’ll be able to get both it and the side projects into your hands soon. I enjoy the main project, but those side projects have lived rent-free in my head for years now. Can’t wait to share either one with you.

All in due time, however. Wouldn’t want to give you apples that aren’t ripe yet.
