Today, I’m gonna keep it short, nice and simple.
2018 was a wild and bitter-sweet year. We had plenty of movies, games, tv shows and anime to talk about, good and bad alike. We lost some of the most iconic names in the creative industry, and we’ll be feeling those losses for years to come. And politics…
Will not be discussed here. This is a safe place.
This year was one of the most transformative years of my entire life. I lived in and moved out of my first apartment, worked two separate jobs for extensive periods of time, and most importantly: I started this very blog. Two if you count the old site as a separate thing.
It’s honestly kind of hard to believe that it hasn’t even been a whole year yet. I started writing the old blog all the way back in February on Google Blogspot (hey man, you’ll take what you can get when you’re eighteen, poor and bored) and moved over to this site in July. Across those two sites, I’ve been lucky enough to find a small but wonderful community of smart and kind people.
All in the span of ten months. It’s crazy how much can happen in such a short amount of time, isn’t it?
As up and down 2018 was as a year, I don’t think I’ll ever truly hate it. Before this year, before the blog, I had never committed to something for as long as this. The closest I’d ever come were books that I wrote, edited once, then never touched again. I fully expected this to be the same. I’d write a few posts, then I’d never touch the thing again and I’d move on.
Never have I been so happy to be wrong.
This was a great year for this blog, and I have every intention of making 2019 just as good. I’m not going to settle with hoping. I’m grabbing the next year by the fucking throat and making it my bitch!
It’s going to be a great year, and I hope you’ll join me for the journey.
