Come to think of it, I don’t talk about music a lot on this blog. A shame, cause I’m a fan of decent music. I’m not a guru of the classics, but I’ve dabbled in some of them. From no particular period, I know a few Rolling Stones songs, the Beatles, The Eagles, and of course my personal favorite of the lot: Queen.
I like almost all of their songs. ‘We Will Rock You’, ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’, ‘Another One Bites the Dust’, ‘Somebody To Love’, and of course ‘We Are the Champions’. These are all well loved, widely listened to songs. For good reason, too. But they all pale in comparison to one song.
This song is indescribable. It changes style about seven times, going from soft rock to acapella to hard rock (these could be wrong, but that’s how I’d describe them). I’m no expert, but this song is fucking crazy.
So naturally it had to get a movie eventually.
Yeah, in case you hadn’t seen the trailer yet (link here) despite it being on the top of the trending tab on YouTube, Queen is finally getting a Hollywood film all about their music and the creation of Bohemian Rhapsody. And honestly? I don’t know how I feel about that.
Now, don’t get me wrong. The trailer looks fine. In fact, it looks pretty good. But we’ve been deceived by trailers many times.
I guess I’m just scared. Optimistic, but scared. Queen is a fantastic band, and Bohemian Rhapsody is a class song among classics. If any band deserves a great movie, it’s them, especially Freddie Mercury. But we won’t know until we see the movie.
Who knows? I just wanted to talk about it. I had no real point to it. I just needed a filler post before Deadpool 2.
